Reepicheep at sea

For the record I really like the movie take on Reepicheep. Coulda done without the addition of the supposedly funny one-liners in battle, but hey. He wasn't overly cute, and ahhh the animation. And although Eddie Izzard is not "Officially The Only Person Imaginable For This Part" he is great. Izzard does this sweet soft little thing with his voice in the role, where it sounds almost out-of-breath...? I could buy that it was coming from a small animal (without it having to be all high and squeaky. It would have been awful if they'd given Reepicheep an "Alvin and the Chipmunks" -voice!). Pleasant surprise.
But, even so, I tried not to let movie-Reep influence this drawing too much, because obviously I've had a "reader's image" of him since before the movie and I still haven't really succeeded in putting it to paper. ...Yeeah, um, this isn't it yet, either :B I just wanted to have a fun wax crayon time.

(No pictures in this post)

In case someone is actually wondering, I haven't forgotten about this blog -- and being an aspiring artist I know there's no excuse for not drawing, but my lame excuse for an excuse is that I've been accepted to an animation program abroad (Canada, specifically), and I have a ton of bureaucratic hurdles to jump before I'm ready to migrate there (from Finland, yeah).
I'm ecstatic about becoming an actual animation student this autumn, but it also means that a lot of tiny annoying things require my attention Right Now.
I'll try to stop lazing around with the sketching, though. ...Perhaps this would help me?

OH! AND I've also started a very non-impressive journal comic. Again, this link appears only in the case that someone's wondering if I ever, ever, draw anything anything anything at all (you have to chant that for the link to appear, in fact). Not that I need to prove myself to strangers AAARGH .....Do I?

I may be a one-trick pony but hey, how many other ponies CAN draw from life?

Yet another one.

Something from Tuesday

I fudged up the legs, but otherwise it's a pretty good likeness.

Tuesday's life drawing classes are over. I'm going to miss drawing "big". The course had nice roomy facilities, nothing like my apartment. Oh well, at least there's always Friday.

Some kind of platysaur, a bumblebee and a thing

Another portfolio batch. These are from last summer, really old. But ah the memories they bring me...

I love watching bumblebees. I want to shrink myself all tiny and hug them! So cuddlyyyyyy! I'm experiencing "the animal-induced speech impediment" again... Can't help it at all. We all have our weaknesses.

Cat owner taking over

Animal drawing time.

OMG shees sooooo cute!#@

Hooded crows are my favourite birds to watch around here. They're beautiful and seem really smart, cautious and proud. Too bad they're actually so base and survival-bent as to eat human vomit, but that's animals for you.
